tips on getting pregnantFor sure, many women out there wanted to know when the best time to get pregnant is. Most married couples are not actually aware about the truth that lies behind it. There are several medically proven methods that you should be aware of in order to maximize your chances of getting pregnant.

Planning when to get pregnant is necessary especially in our present time. When you want to get pregnant, it is important to know your menstrual cycle to schedule your intercourse when your egg is most likely getting fertilized. Experts said that the best time to get pregnant is during the ovulation phase of your menstrual period. When you are aware of your menstrual cycle, you will also be aware of the best time to get pregnant.

Understanding The Ovulation Process

Ovulation period for every woman usually varies. It normally takes place twelve days once a new menstrual cycle starts. Ovulation occurs after a Luteinizing Hormone (LH) surge. LH is a hormone responsible for the release of a mature ovum into the uterus. For a 24- day cycle, ovulation happens at the 12th day, while for a 32- day cycle, it occurs on the 16th days before the next period. During the ovulation process, the ovum or egg is released from the ovary and travels down to the fallopian tube and is ready for fertilization. The egg stays fertile for approximately half a day or about twelve hours. After the period of high fertility, the ovum begins to diminish, and the chances of getting pregnant quickly decline.

Most women have menstrual cycle of twenty eight days. The ovulation period commences from the middle of the cycle. So having sex in the three days before ovulation and on the ovulation day will result to pregnancy. Since the women’s body is more receptive during this period, it becomes easier to get pregnant.

Steps To Find Out The Best Time To Getting Pregnant

  • Using Basal Body Temperature
  • : One method used to find out the best time to get pregnant is by measuring the basal body temperature using a thermometer. During ovulation period, an increase in basal body temperature for about 0.5 to 1.6 degrees will naturally occur. This rise in your body temperature indicates that you are on your most fertile days. The rise in body temperature results from the increase level of the hormone progesterone in the women’s body. The best time to get pregnant is two to three days before the temperature reaches its highest point. Creating a temperature chart for over 2 to 3 months will be very helpful in identifying the date of ovulation. Charting morning body temperature and also timing the release of the ovum improves the chance of getting pregnant successfully.
  • Using Cervical Mucus
  • : This is one of the most used methods to find out the best time to get pregnant. Cervical mucus changes its texture and increases its volume as the menstrual cycle progresses. These variations in cervical excretions show your heightened fertility. This also results from the increase level of the hormone estrogen that generally takes place at this period. As ovulation approaches, you will begin to notice “wetness” over the vaginal area and mucus secretion grows. The mucus is the one that protects, guides, and nourishes the sperm through the uterus, then to the fallopian tube, and finally towards the fertile egg. During your most fertile days, the cervical mucus tends to become clear, slippery, and looks like raw egg white. After ovulation period, the mucus secretions will slow down and will have a cloudy appearance. You can check your cervical mucus by using a toilet paper to collect sample of mucus from the vagina. But be sure to wash your hands first before doing the procedure.
